not so Still Life NYC

Still Life NYC makes some of the most amazing hats. Original designs, hand blocked, and all produced in Brooklyn in their own millinery factory. Frenel runs a cool studio in the LES where his hats are designed and displayed. When you walk in, he’ll throw a couple of hats on your head, depending on the shape of your face and style. “Damn, what an upgrade!” For those that can’t get out to NYC to get one, try one on @ Acrimony soon.

W+H boots

We don’t carry shoes in the shop, YET. But I’m pretty upset about the non-purchase of the Wings + Horns boots. In collaboration with Dayton Boots, they’re all handcrafted in Vancouver. The suede Lumberman’s boot is pretty sweet. But I really love the Service Boot in the distressed leather. Hmph…

Pete Versus Toby Hooded Bomber

This jacket is pretty cool, and a really good price for a full on leather bomber with a hood. But what’s up with this dude? Totally distracting.

From Australian label Pete Versus Toby - the hooded bomber jacket (AUD$495) is available in several colors (black, white, red and blue) from their online store.

Meet Erica

It’s summer time, perfect time for summer interns. Meet Erica, the newest addition to Acrimony’s team. Don’t be fooled by our charming demeanor. We slave drive. Hopefully she makes it through the whole summer in one piece. Afterall, this is fashion, people.

FourCents

My cousin writes a cool blog called Four Cents. This was her recount of Sunday night, where we created her best Facebook profile pic yet (although this brick wall apparently not so original).  She’s got the best “LOOK DISAFFECTED” look I’ve seen in a while. Well done.

fourcents:

My cousin Jenny arrived in New York Sunday night.  As any good Chung does, she dropped her bags off at her hotel and proceeded directly to Momofuku Ssäm Bar.  The meal was uncharacteristically uneven, with very high highs (spicy sausage and rice cakes, pork buns, duh) and disappointing lows (overly smoky asparagus and snails).  Entertainment came courtesy of a nattily dressed couple who decided to conduct an impromptu photo shoot in front of the graffitied wall next to the restaurant.  Much pain was taken in the posing of every photo - move your left foot an inch to the right; slouch; give me more disaffected; would you waste Terry Richardson’s time with that pout?  A good ten minutes of this, but then again, what’s ten minutes in the quest for Facebook profile pic glory?  Jenny’s and my attempt to recreate the magic is above.

San Jose reminds me...

…of what I love so much about street style. All this black drapey stuff has clouded my brain about what I really like about men’s fashion.

Free the Robots, 6/4/09 on Vimeo.

Free the Robots and Flying Lotus played last night. The show was good but the crowd was far more inspirational. San Jose dudes are super heavy on the Supreme, Visvim, Sophnet, Wtaps (pretty much anything carried @ the GLADE). That started me thinking about Sidney Lo’s photo diary documenting a year in the life of his raw denim.  Raw denim, a t-shirt, sometimes a flannel, a fedora, sometimes a New Era, thick framed glasses and some fresh kicks. Simple, clean, classic and timeless. How can that not be timeless? Moreover, it looks fly. I’m bringing street back»>into the shop, that is.

Forgotten Leather

I forgot all about this leather jacket. And now, of course, it’s no where to be found. I don’t think I ever even saw it outside the Surface to Air showroom. Justice/S2A leather jacket…so amazing. One for the “I ride a motorcycle, I’m so legit” kinda guy. One for the “I’m way too cool for all you fools” kinda guy. Ebay doesn’t even own one of these suckers.

Listen up, hair this

Not only do I love this SONG, I love this hair. Oh I la la la love La Roux.

My hair changes so frequently that I feel pressured to always make it new. But reinvention is the key to keeping things fresh. How fresh is it to have hair that’s blowing in the wind when you’re actually indoors?!

Endovanera jacket, Nom de Guerre selvedge denim, handmade knit scarf, MJ cashmere beanie, Common Projects Achilles, SUPER sunglasses. Those glasses are tough. TOUGH AS FLUFF. son.

o. karen.

People in LA spend so much time in the car. The only upside to that is listening to the radio, which otherwise I generally would not. So I heard ZERO by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and remembered that AMAZING show at Coachella.

Sequins. Leather jacket. 100 degree weather. Fierce.

Karen O is beyond amazing. Debbie Harry re-invented?

There’s a recipe to success…everyone has one. Just some taste WAY better than others.  Mine is collaborating with people that I respect/have talent/are inspirational. My current project is with this guy»ALVAL. Amazing leathers, dope designs, that thing that everyone’s been looking for. But there’s no shortage in hardwork to get it right. No spoilers here, only pictures as prelude.
