Bliss Lau Chrysler Bracelet

It’s been a while since I’ve put on a piece of jewelry that stopped people on the streets. The Bliss Lau Chrysler Bracelet has been the center of my bracelet/ring obsession for the past 2 days. I just keep staring at my hands, and quite frankly, so does everyone else.

With only 2 left in the brass finish, jump on it people. Jump.

Brass bracelet with center ring and hook closure. (Gun metal is sold out!) Hooks around the wrist, easy enough to do on your own. $238. Buy it HERE.

Item of the Week: Wings + Horns Chambray Parka

The ladies hit it big when the Gala bag from Made Her Think went on sale a few weeks ago, but it’s time for the guys to splurge a bit (and to save a bit, too), so we’re very happy to announce that the latest Item of the Week is the Wings + Horns Chambray Parka.

Made out of a gorgeous chambray in a light blue that lets you see everyone little detail of the weave, this parka isn’t just a pretty face — it’s Dintex coating renders it windproof and waterproof so there’s some real substance to this stylish jacket. With six pockets (two on the chest, two flap pockets at the waist, and two hidden slash pockets underneath those) and raglan sleeves for a slightly adjustable fit, it’s the perfect merger of form and function. And of course, the guys at Wings + Horns finish it off with the perfect details: drawstring at the hood and waist, zip-front with at buttoned storm placket, and beautifully carved buttons all over.

For one week, and one week only, the Chambray Parka is 25% off. Buy it HERE for $600 $450.

*Item of the Week valid 4/28-5/4, while supplies last. Offer cannot be combined with other discounts or offers.

Funktional Spring 2010: Back in Black

As much as we love spring, with all of its sunshine and flowers and puppies and iced tea, some things are hard to give up, you know? And while you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day (which we think is stupid anyway), we don’t think you can ever really give up black. And it looks like Funktional’s Jennifer Park agrees with us: for spring, we’ve received four things that will add a dose of darkness no matter how bright it is outside.

Drape tie vest, $78

Lightweight silk (it’s barely there!) makes for a perfect summer cover-up over your favorite tanks and tees. With four super long ties, you can wear it pretty much any way you like. And when it gets cooler, layer it under a blazer or jacket for a luxe way to dress down.

Side snap tank, $103

Who says silk can’t be casual? Made from the same black silk as the drape tie vest, this racerbank tank top has cut-outs on the side and gunmetal snaps on the side.

Double zipper shorts, $63

Going from a hot summer day out and about to a cool, shady night at a club gets a lot easier once you slip these high-waisted shorts on. The two exposed zippers at the waist will make your legs look longer, but even if they didn’t, they’d still be really freaking cool.

One-shoulder cage dress, $135

We’ve always found cocktail parties much more fun when we’re the center of attention, and we dare you to try to blend in with this super-fitted body-con sheath. But, as if a figure-flattering, super-seamed dress isn’t enough, the cage detail at the shoulder and exposed zipper on the back make sure that you’re as impressive coming up to the bar as you are walking away.

If you can’t wait for these to go up on the webstore (and you shouldn’t), call us (415-861-1025) or e-mail info@shopacrimony.com to get yours now.

Alex Wang Sunglasses

We already told you to prepare for this shipment. Good thing we didn’t tell you to hold your breath. They still aren’t here. But the day they arrive the clouds will part and the sun will demand that you be wearing eye coverings.

If you’d like to be notified as soon as these arrive, email us your info to info@shopacrimony.com.

glasses, again.

I have been needing glasses forever, and like most people with worsening vision, it’s been slipping the priority list for over a year now. Today the headaches are making it pretty clear that I need to get specs. So that got me thinking, why do people only have one pair of glasses? If you need to wear them everyday, why not have 3 or 4 or 5 pairs? Perhaps an ignorant statement, but I’m new to the world of lackluster vision.

I stumbled upon this blog: Eye<3Glasses. This chick has a bizillion pairs of specs. Sort of like how people have tons of shoes. This eased my mind about making the decision. If you get funky about it, each pair is sort of non-committal. I don’t have to decide if they will match my hair/outfit/attitude of the moment.

So I propose to not buy one pair, but more like 3…to start.

From Italian optical co. Les Pieces Unique. For when I want to feel/look/act smart.

The Andrea by SUPER. Available at Acrimony, so naturally. I’ll change these lenses out for clear ones, and rock these while I safari.

And these vintage Cazal glasses found on Ebay. These are for hanging out in the park, at the beach, by the pool, while reading books. Because you know I read a lot of books.

Memories...

Extra footage from our very first photo shoot. I’ll never forget how fun this was…
We struggled with the backdrop, the lighting, the dogs running into the shots. It was amazing. We shot for 6 hours until the sun went down.

SHOP SOCIAL(LY)

Last night was SHOP SOCIAL, put on by our friends at Chictopia and Polyvore. Of course, I show up UNfashionably late and miss the open bar. Marcus greets me at the door and says “OMG where have you been?!” I knew it, right then and there, that there was no more free booze.

We ended up buying this t-shirt, and promised that we’d share it. He thought the shirt would be funnier on me. I politely disagree. Marcus is fabulous.

That’s $10 wine we’re drinking. Thanks to no open bar.

Annabelle, so cute.

Lulu, Gus from Harput’s dog. Probably getting the most attention of the night.

of mice and bow.

It’s always a good idea to pop into a Forever21 every once in a while to see what kind of trends and knock-offs have fizzled their way down into the $10 range. The most recent trip was in NY with Devin. (I miss you girl!!)

We really couldn’t get much further than the accessories section with all the clutter and crap in the aisles. But why go any further when there’s hours of fun to be had with Luella/Louis Vuitton big bow headbands…

….and glasses for mice?

Item of the Week: Acne Zorah Tee

We’re getting sick and tired of all these gray skies, so to encourage warmer weather (and lighter clothing), our new Item of the Week is the Zorah tee, from beloved Swedish design house Acne.

Whether you need another more-than-basic basic to finish off your closet or if you’re in dire need of some extra layers, you won’t find something better (or softer) than this viscose and silk blend top. The twisted neck seam and batwing sleeves add tons of personality, but don’t stop it from fitting into any outfit. “Perfekt”, as the Swedish would say.

For one week, and one week only, the Zorah Tee, in all three colors, is 25% off. Buy it HERE for $109 $82.

*Item of the Week valid 4/21-4/27, while supplies last. Offer cannot be combined with other discounts or offers.

pinata swinging attire

There should be an outfit for every occasion. Dresses/suits for weddings, black and black lace for funerals, jeans and a tank for the dog park. But what if you’re invited to a dinner party that also involves swinging a bat at a 5 foot tall pinata? DO YOU BRING EXTRA SHOES? No. Just do it with grace.

This had to be one of the best family gatherings in a long time. A whole roasted pig, a buffet of Chinese food, 2 ice cream cakes from Bi-Rite (TWO!) and larger than life pinatas molded after the 2 birthday celebrities.

Pinatas created by DAX, the resemblances are uncanny. I can’t get over how freakin’ good these are. Both reinforced with steel and filled with 9 chambers of candy. These were not easy to crack open.

Notice the “graceful” swing in the Opening Ceremony dress and 4 inch Giuseppe Zanotti boots.

Hot pink and platforms make for good form.

I should really take off all jewelry before swinging at moving objects.

The happy couple before…..and after.

And the real lesson to be learned here, people, is that if it’s YOUR party, and you’ll be swinging at your own head, do it with style, i.e. a pink ruffled tuxedo shirt. Best. Party. Ever.

I think I might like to see these CCP sneaks hanging from a telephone wire. Object dyed, no seam, dripped rubber, leather sneakers.
And if you were to own these, I would insist you only walk on your hands. Not on your feet.

lets make it sheer

It’s been a while since the sun has been out long enough to get any decent amount of color. My skin tone is stuck with this bitter, winter shade of blah. So I’ve been thinking about ways to artfully hide my winter shade while wearing spring appropriate attire. So far it’s been thin sweaters and silk leggings. Then I started flipping through the Ostwald Helgason collection for Fall and figured that I just desperately need a long sheer dress to cover me up but keep me cool. Find one with a hood and I’m a very happy shade of sheer.

T or F? Prints are not for everyone

I somehow ended up on the Urban Outfitters mailing list. I’m also receiving their catalogs in the mail. Sneaky lil’ suckers aren’t they? They are clearly trying to brainwash me into buying a floral dress. Print dresses, floral shorts, graphic leggings, something loud and something I will surely only wear once.

So what is a girl to do that doesn’t look good in prints? The answer to that is: “SILLY! YOU LOOK GREAT IN PRINTS, YOU’VE JUST BEEN TRYING THE WRONG ONES.”

Florals make me look confused. But you can’t limit yourself to solids. So I found four prints that I like. Really like.

Item of the Week: Utility Shirt

The guys get their turn for this installment of our Item of the Week and it’s a real doozy. We sold out of the Nom de Guerre Utility Shirt before it even managed to get up on the webstore, but now that it’s up there and with a sweet 25% off offer attached there’s no reason for you to take advantage of our latest Nom de Guerre restock.

Even with their super focused military-meets-urban living look, Nom de Guerre takes the smart approach to spring with their Utility Shirt. Three-quarter sleeved so that you don’t have to waste time rolling them up, this bad boy is basically ready for warm weather right off the hanger. In a crisp plaid linen, with two front buttoned pockets, and a slightly shrunken collar, it’s perfect on its own or layered underneath your favorite field jacket.

For one week, and one week only, the Utility Shirt  is 25% off. Buy it HERE for $187 $141.

*Item of the Week valid 4/14-4/20, while supplies last. Offer cannot be combined with other discounts or offers.

Refinery 29 Loves Lady Grey → refinery29.com

Great minds think alike, you know. We had already given you a preview at some of the Lady Grey jewelery arriving for fall, but one of our favorite fashion newshounds, Refinery 29, did a great write-up about the line and its inspiration with some shots from their lookbook. Remember to keep an eye open for when these beauties arrive to get your hands on them!

Finally, a re-stock from Nom de Guerre. And what, you ask? The Officer’s Shirt in both colors, the Utility Shirt in more sizes, the Commando Shirt Jacket in Charcoal and NEW…the Commando Shirt Jacket in charcoal CAMOUFLAGE.

We didn’t even get to photo the Officer’s Shirt for the webstore last time around. I imagine the same thing will happen with this re-stock. If you want to get your paws on either color, call us. Now.

//JUST IN: Hyden Hoo Spring 2010

We don’t know how he does it, but Hyden Hoo can always take a staple piece and give it a refreshing riff. For spring, he’s taken your favorite henley, t-shirt, shorts, and jackets and breathed new life into them with subtle details like seamed detailing, concealed buttons, special necklines, and colorblocking. The colors are soft, but never girly; easy, but never simple. Since these aren’t up on the webstore yet, you can e-mail us HERE (info@shopacrimony.com) or give us a call at 415-861-1025 if you’d like to get your hands on these right away.

Slim Shirt in black check, $138

Hyden Yoo’s famous slim shirt arrives in time for spring in a black and white check. Back darts for fit with point collar and mitered barrel cuffs.

Slim Shirt in blue Tattersall, $138

A classic Tattersall check, with shades of blue, white, and black, gets an update with Hyden Yoo’s darted slim fit. Same fit and details as above.

Norfolk Tee, $50

A wide neck plain t-shirt becomes a standout with pale yellow and heather gray colorblocks.

Masbro Jacket, $357

You can’t help but wish it would get cold with a parka like this. Lightweight cotton body with a black check lining, four flap pockets (the bottom two flaps can fold and zip in for secure storage), and a nifty short funnel neck to keep you warm when it gets brisk at night.

Dorset Tee in black and gray, $50

A deceptively simple t-shirt, where the standard v-neck is replaced with a comfy shawl neck. Double layered construction at the hems give it a soft, worn look. Rolled, raw edge pocket on the chest.

Devon Henley in white and gray/white stripe, $56

Basic doesn’t have to be boring. Wide-neck short-sleeved henley with a concealed two-button placket.

Derby Shorts, $99

Brushed cotton twill shorts with a curved side seam. Two front pockets and two back welt pockets with a zip fly. Lightweight and breezy, you’ll wear them everyday once the temperature picks up. We’ll also be receiving these in a rusty red color in a week, at the latest.
