Maybe it’s just because we’re Romantics at heart, but we think one of the best parts of any look is when you walk away. The figure you cut, the impression you leave, the fact that if you catch someone’s eye, they have to run after you…it makes everything feel a little more dramatic, a little more cinematic, a little more bad-ass. In that vein, we think there are a few pieces that you guys might have neglected because you didn’t take a chance to check out what’s going on in the back.

Funktional Tunnel Tank

Bright blue color and incredibly light silk would have been enough to make this tank a must-have for summer, but the dramatic draped back will have everybody making a double-take when you walk past them in Dolores Park. The bottom of the tank actually “tunnels” through a slit in the top, creating a beautiful drape as well as leaving two artfully placed cut-outs on each side.

Sure, you can admire the texture and great hand finishing on this waxed jacket from the front, but the large back panel lets you see just how unique the coating is without any pockets or zippers or buttons to distract you. And if you look closely, you can also make out the stitching that connects the inner back carry strap—all because you took the time to turn this jacket around!

Kai-aakmann Fringe Back Blouson

From the front, this lightweight jacket looks like a pretty straightforward piece, but when you noticed the Western-style welted pockets, you know that Soonjin Park has loaded up her design with a little something extra. Turn it around and—voilà! A sassy and incredibly fun fringe along the back and arms adds a little extra. Western influences, 20’s influences, and military influences all collide in a jacket you’ll want to wear all summer long.

P.A.M. Heavy Groove Eno Chino

These definitely aren’t your dads old corduroys. We think the safety orange coloring might have tipped you off. But what we really love are the signature P.A.M. pockets. Long-time fans will recognize these immediately as a classic detail that echoes to sagged jeans on skaters, but reconfigured to be a totally cool, totally unique design. For the more timid amongst you, don’t forget that these guys are also available in a classic tan, too.

Mother’s Day is approaching, so it’s time to truly honor all the wonderful mothers out there. And from what we hear, being a mom isn’t always easy—there’s little to no time for getting dressed or putting on make-up, researching the latest trends, or engaging in retail therapy. However, there are plenty of moms who look seriously stylish, despite having slept 3 hours, endured an entire morning with a fussy baby, and spent 10 minutes getting ready. How do they do it? In need of some answers, we decided to interview a couple of our favorite customers demanding they divulge their secrets to being so chic.

How would you describe your personal style? How does it influence how you dress your baby?

Dionne: I would describe it as edgy and minimalistic, with some progressive undertones. I tend to wear a lot of black, and my favorite items in my wardrobe include rompers, button-downs, and a classic Levi’s jacket. I dress Milla in a lot of neutral colors, but I include one accent color in whatever accessory she’s wearing—socks, shoes, hat, etc.
Ginny: I love to wear black, so I look for things with edgy details and unusual cuts to make things interesting. I tend toward plays on proportion and I usually like to wear billowy tops and more fitted pants. I keep it simple! I guess you could call my style modern, and kind of architectural. But baby clothes are really hard to find in black! I dress Ando in primarily dark colors like grey, brown, navy blue, and olive green. We’re so used to seeing babies in bright colors, but I try to keep him in the muted colors that I love to wear. I dress Ando like he’s a little man whenever possible.

How has motherhood influenced/changed your personal style?

Ginny: Being a nursing mom limits your clothing options considerably! When I was pregnant it was all about the fit, and then after I had the baby everything I wore needed to be nursing-friendly. Now that I’m back to my normal size and working full time again, I’ve tried to maintain the same style that I had before I was a mom, just tailoring it to be a bit more flexible for nursing and crawling around on the floor to chase an active baby. And my shoes have to be stable enough to walk in and carry a baby.
Dionne: My personal style really hasn’t changed; I still have the same style, but I’ve added some mom-friendly pieces like button-downs and low tanks for nursing.

What restaurants, boutiques, etc. do you enjoy frequenting in San Francisco with the baby?

Dionne: Milla and I love visiting Alamo Square and The Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park. We also enjoy picnics.
Ginny: We live in the Mission, so we spend a lot of time walking around the neighborhood. I love to visit Aldea Ninos to find the newest baby supplies, and we’ve been hitting up Schmidt’s for brunch on the weekends because it is so laid back and baby-friendly, a great place to meet up with friends that we used to have dinner with before we were parents.

What is your baby’s favorite piece of clothing? Do you have any predictions about your baby’s future style?

Ginny: I’d like to think that his favorite piece of clothing is a pair of baggy camouflage pants that his Aunty Bliss and Uncle Evan gave him for Christmas. They’re the perfect combination of baggy and stylish, all the better for crawling around and making trouble.
Dionne: Milla likes her high-waisted jeggings. It’s a little too early to tell, but sometimes I think she might like a style opposite to mine—girly and feminine.

If you could choose anything at Acrimony or ACRE/SF to receive for a Mother’s Day gift, what would it be?

Dionne: I really like these Rachel Comey Coral Platforms. They’re really comfortable, which is great for my lifestyle.
Ginny: The VEDA Max Classic Leather Jacket! After years of shopping at Acrimony I’ve never looked at that jacket and not lusted after it. For my first mother’s day I think it’s only fitting that I choose a classic, then my first mother’s day gift won’t languish in my closet as a relic of 2012! Now I just need Marcus to sell that idea to my husband (too bad Ando doesn’t have his own credit card).

What’s your style secret to being such a hip mom? What’s your “go-to” outfit despite being sleep deprived, having no time to get ready, etc.?

Ginny: My secret style to being a hip mom…I’m just honored to be asked that question! I guess that my secret is that I try not to look like a mom. My go-to outfit is a pair of THVM Atelier jeans, a big voluminous top from Tse that I wore when I was pregnant and still wear now, a Bliss Lau body chain from my sister’s fine-jewelry line, and a pair of Rachel Comey flats. It’s a simple outfit, but one that feels appropriate for anything that comes up.
Dionne: I guess my style secret would be that I’ve learned to buy a few nice, classic black pieces, then add pop or accents to keep it fresh! My go-to outfit is a pair of high-waisted black cropped pants, with a black cropped tank top, then whatever sweater or jacket I’m feeling for the day.

Mac Daddy

That’s right the Mac is back. No, not McDonalds. We aren’t talking about the 29 grams of fat inside a bun (that’s a big mac in case you were wondering). Let’s talk about something that won’t cause a heart attack. Still with me?

Fella’s what jacket are you rockin’ this spring? There are several options here at Acrimony that are right on par for this season’s best. Obviously they are the best, because we carry them damn it! But just when we thought it could not get any better, we receive this Wings + Horns Light Weight Mac Coat. And dare I say, that shit cray! I tried this on immediately after I saw it laid out in Acrimony this past Monday. Not gonna lie, I contemplated straight booking out of the store with the jacket on. I’m just kidding. Sort of.

Each season Wings + Horns revisits the Mac, but this time around it comes to us in a waxed light weight fabric. Light enough to layer, but tough enough, that with more wear, the better it will get. I tend to rock my jackets with the collar popped. I recommend you do as well, for an extra dose of that Mac Daddy you have deep down inside.

Party in your Pants

You’re in a rut.

It’s okay, we get it. When you’re in a rush, it’s just so easy to slip into the same jeans and the same shirt day in and day out. But let’s call it what it is, alright? It’s a rut and you need a little shake up to get you out of it. No need to go all crazy, so let’s just deal with this one problem at a time. You can tell that we love jeans as much as the next guy, but sometimes, you just have to leave the denim at home and do something new.

Wings + Horns Tan Cropped West Point Chino
A new spin on an old favorite, these cropped chinos might look a little intimidating and too “fashion forward”, but when you put them on with your favorite loafers or low-top sneakers, you’ll ask yourself why you didn’t think of this sooner. Just wear these instead of any casual pants for an understated update or go all out and pair it with some bold patterns or colors for a fun new way to deal with spring.

Perks and Mini Marbel Shorts
A pretty straightforward pair of shorts in a crazy color is a perfectly comfortable alternative for warmer days that’s still super stylish. The solid shade lets you pair it with all your favorite tops—striped, printed, whatever—but you can just as easily wear it with a simple t-shirt without feeling underdressed.

If you absolutely, positively can’t bear to wear anything other than jeans, then at least wear some super bad-ass, totally unique jeans. Dyed blue, then dyed green, then coated, the Greencast is now one of our favorite jeans specifically because it isn’t ”just another pair of jeans”. Dark enough to wear with boots, a shirt, and a jacket while also casual enough to wear with sneakers and a tee, it’s pretty much everything you ever wanted out of a pair of jeans.

Vacation Season

In little over 3 days my family and I will be leaving for vacation in Hawaii. I think the last time I stepped foot over there I was the age of six. I remember very little about the vacation itself. For whatever reason I remember having lots of frozen waffles, wheat to be exact. And I remember wearing a Local Motion shirt, which my mom found recently and suggested I wear to the beach this time around. No seriously. She was pretty excited too? Its possible that she actually handed me one that my dad bought that trip, seeing as though it would be physically impossible for me to fit in ANY of my clothes from the age of six. Either way the shirt was 18 years old. And for all you vintage lovers, this shirt was unwearable. Thanks anyways!

With all of that said here are some items from the store that I would love to have on my trip. Vacation season is already underway, so this is for all you homies going on trips this summer. There is a serious amount to choose from. So if this post becomes excessive I apologize upfront. It’s very likely, considering I pack more than my girlfriend.

Robert Geller Geo Shorts-Really feeling the pattern and the cut of these shorts At just about a 6 inch inseam, these shorts fall in the perfect fit category. Time to trade in your shorts that fall past your kneecaps dudes, fashion forecasts don’t show too many ankle biting basketball shorts influencing designers in the near future.

Perks and Mini Marble Shorts-I have to say I am a big fan of the elastic waistband this Spring/Summer. I just purchased a pair of Ted Baker trunks that are elastic/drawstring. For whatever reason any bottoms that I purchase tend to stretch out. Anyways with the elastic I don’t have to worry about the waistline expanding like Chris Farley’s . No belt required= automatic purchase.

Wings + Horns Navy S/S Pocket Tee- I decided to purchase this guy for a few reasons. The fit was perfect and I really liked the weight of the T-shirt itself. My last vacation to Cabo I purchased several Tee’s from the GAP that now look like hell. Their stretched out and the colors are bare. They have been demoted to my gym shirts. This time around I am spending the extra $20 or $30 for some quality Tee’s that I know will last more than a week vacation.

Wings+ Horns Black Navajo Polo-Simple polo with not so average detail. Color may be dark for Hawaii, but for my color blind eyes it leans toward navy, which just so happens to be my favorite color.

Penny Stock Big Stripe Penny Tank- Because I’ll be in Hawaii and will be damned if I don’t get to show off my brand new tattoos.

Gitman Bros. Vintage Japanese YD Jacquard Sailboats- I’m on a boat b*tch.

C.P. Company Cotton Rustic Sweater- I was told it gets down to the 60’s at night this time of the year in Hawaii, which I find semi disgusting considering its “paradise”. Right, thats what they call it? Let’s hope they meant over night. Either way if need an extra layer I would love for this to be in my suitcase. Steezy moss stitched construction, get off me player.

Miansai Burgundy Rope Hook Bracelet- While I already own a rope hook from Miansai, I really dig the color way of this one. Accessories are necessary, step up your wrist game.
