1. Lucid Dreams

    Sometimes less is more, and in the case of designer Ann-Sofie Back’s imaginative translucent details, the statement rings true: One adds a complex outer layer with very little. Behold the pellucid element, a throwback to the days of jellies and hot pink see through plastic backpacks (thanks, Clueless), lucite baubles and that undiscerning 90’s take on Cinderella shoes (thee it-heel if there ever were one for 18-year-old style mavens of the decade). The transparant trend has evolved from Showgirls though, and what remains is at once minimal and elegant.

    Back uses plastic links in a collection of jewelry that translates simplicity in a practical, functional form. Her penchant for the avant-garde is demonstrated on her every day ready-to-wear pieces, both the classic blouse and t-shirt, with the addition of a clear back strap that hangs loosely like the same organic curve of the spine. The pink sandals she designed for Cheap Monday possess a small dose of the unexpected too, combining metallic material with a lucid strap covering the top of the foot. How do you wear what’s next to nothing?

  2. The Elvestedt sisters always have a trick up their sleeves. This season, they asked why make a plain scarf when you can make it in a fantastic shade of mint green using only fruits and spices, on a solar-powered loom, and with a specialty dye process that consumes only a fraction of a fraction of the water that others require? Woven from a featherweight micromodal and silk yarn, this scarf feels exactly like what a big bite of fresh, cold mint ice cream tastes like and as far as we’re concerned, that’s about as close to a magic trick as fashion gets.

  3. Nightiming // cold nights + winter chills call for the right accessories

  4. There’s something positively British about how Folk approaches design. Classic styles are updated with quirky details like colored woven fabrics, corozo nut buttons, embossed leather, and more. Our first batch of accessories have arrived, including belts, keyrings, lanyards, and hats. Available in store and online now.

  5. Thankfully we didn’t have to deal with Hurricane Sandy, but it sure got us thinking about bundling up and getting cozy. And as luck would have it, we’ll soon be receiving A Peace Treaty’s fall collection, entitled “Safar”.

    Inspired by wanderers amongst the sands of the the Sahara and in the rocky paths of the Andes. Rich, deep colors are drawn from the earth itself while jolts of vibrant colors and geometric patterns feel almost like precious stones and metals, glimmering in the soil. Luxurious baby alpaca, fine silk, and smooth leather are woven, patched together, and knitted into elegant scarves and stoles.

    Here’s a sneak peak at some of the incoming pieces, but don’t forget to shop our current selection of gorgeously patterned silk and silk/cotton scarves, too!

  6. We are on the edge of our seats in anticipation for the new Deadly Ponies collection to arrive at Acrimony tomorrow. The collection this season is Seniorita Bandits, inspired by the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Sugar skulls and painted faces, brightly colored bags with Mexican inspired artifacts. We can’t wait.

  7. The evil geniuses at Cast of Vices have struck gold (or is it plastic?) again with their new range of bracelets and clutches, some of our first pieces in for the Fall/Winter 2012 season. Ridiculously soft lambskin and totally stunning colors make these simple leather goods total knock-outs. They’re already available to purchase online, so we hope you’re already scoring one now instead of reading the end of this sentence.

  8. ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS

    Jenny says:

    A beautiful wallet is more than a sign of good taste, it says something about the way you live your life. Do you have a million receipts stuffed into your wallet? You probably have a messy bedroom. Is your wallet ripped on the corners? Your car probably needs a tune-up. Does your wallet have some sort of Velcro on it? You probably need to move out of your mom’s garage.  Is your wallet made of pony hair printed with zebra stripes? Then you are probably amazing. Give “amazing” as a gift, it’s always a sure thing.

  9. packing lunch

    Oh you know, just packing myself a fashionable lunch.

    I bet you anything my lunch sack is better than yours.
    Marie Turnor, Picnic Clutch.

    And if lunch is the meal you skip, opt for the snak mini clutch or the dinner clutch. All with equal wow factor. Leather, it’s what’s for lunch. {woooooow did I just say that?}
